Welcome to The Butterfly Affect

Welcome to The Butterfly Affect.

My wife has always loved butterflies. If there is a butterfly printed on something, she wants it or it is automatically beautiful. Until recently, my love for butterflies hasn't been as great as Christina's has. Then she took me to a butterfly house on a recent trip to Mackinac Island.

It was there that my fondness of butterflies grew into an admiration. The Butterfly House on Mackinac Island had many different types of butterflies and in different forms. They had a great display of the chrysalis of many different kinds of butterflies. They would emerge from their chrysalis and after they are ready to fly, they are put into the butterfly house.

It was in the butterfly house that the beauty of the butterfly became visible and addicting. We watched the gracefulness of these insects as they fluttered and glided all around us, hoping one may land on us for a closer peek. The atmosphere was tropical, relaxing and entertaining to us.

Well since our visit to The Butterfly House, I have been reading anything I can find on the butterfly. Which leads us to The Butterfly Affect. In my readings, I have discovered how important the butterfly is to our environment. Besides being beautiful, they help pollinate the food we eat, just like the honey bee. About thirty percent of the food we eat needs to be pollinated before it can grow. Butterflies are also an important part of the food chain as many birds and such feed on the butterflies to survive.

The result of all of this is that we have decided to become butterfly farmers. I know, it sounds kind of weird, but there are butterfly farmers out there at this time. There is a lot to learn about the wonderful butterfly and we will use The Butterfly Affect to capture our journey and we hope that you tag along with us.
